This is our year to vacation right here at home ! It’s Canada 150; why leave our awesome country!
Over the past few weeks we’ve been exploring Ontario- from the sandy shores of Long Point Provincial Park to the rocky Terrain of Georgian Bay- our camping trips were great!
But we knew it was time for a little more luxury! Something more comfortable than an air mattress. So we hit the road, to the absolutely stunning Kawarthas and found an awesome cottage resort, Viamede.
My relationship with Daniel is exciting, unpredictable and so special to me. We’ve been together for almost six years, but a lot of that time has been apart. His work takes him all around the world. Some summers we didn’t even get a single weekend together. So having this time together in such an awesome setting, well that’s perfection if you ask me !
The cherry on top of this awesome weekend is the fact that little Rainbow could join along too! We were so happy to find a 100% dog friendly resort. From the awesome walking trails, to the fenced in dog park and the container of puppy treats at the front desk…your dog definitely feels welcome !
Stoney lake is a part of the Trent Severn Waterway and is truly beautiful! Perfect for swimming, taking out the canoe or just lounging around. I love this setting for a summertime getaway. What makes it even better is it’s proximity to the GTA, only two hours to the north east.
The dining at this resort makes it unique ! You can find your classic pubfood at The Boathouse restaurant or go really upscale to the fine dining and wine pairing at Mount Julian. We didn’t hold back… seriously indulged in both ! We had a kitchen in our cottage – but we only used the fridge to keep our beer cold. Total vacation mode for us!
Their dedication to cooking with local homegrown food really impressed us (and yeah after all that delicious food I am now craving a solid run).
We took sometime to explore the local farm. I don’t know why, but pigs fascinate me… maybe that’s why I’m not the biggest bacon fan ! They are just so cute! So I was really excited to see four awesome pigs ready to greet us as we explored the farm. Rainbow was a fan too…kinda.
This weekend deserves a 10/10. We loved the easy laid back vibe. Stress free! The beach was filled with canoes, kayaks and paddle boards that we could use at anytime. We took them all for a spin.
Big thanks to Viamede for the memories ! It was tough to leave !
