Cake, treats and a billion hugs and kisses ! I love celebrating my dog Rainbows birthday.
This year she turned 15 on July 18th ! I’m so thankful for all the amazing years we have had together but it also makes me sad knowing she is in her senior years, so I like to make the most of her birthdays. I do it for her… and also for me !
The bond I have with this little doggie is truly special.
I was the kid who begged for a dog every Christmas, birthday… “just get me a dog and you will never have to buy me another present ever again”.
When I turned 11 my parents finally caved. So I’ve had this dog for more than half my life.
When I say we’ve done a lot together I seriously mean it. From my grade 8 graduation, to prom, to sneaking her into my university dorms, a furry face at the end of my races, she’s appeared on The Weather Network more than once and has even had a full day in studio. I incorporate her into everything & it makes me so happy.
We’ve had 15 years of amazing memories and I hope we still have a few more!
If you love celebrating your doggies birthday too here is the cake recipe I’ve been making. It’s easy & she loves it.
1 cup of flour
1 cup of water
1 banana
2 tbsp peanut butter
1 egg
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup oats
1/2 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350.
Mash banana and add egg, vanilla, peanut butter and water. Then mix all dry ingredients. Slowing mix the wet and dry together.
Spray 3-4 small oven safe cermaic bowls and pour the batter in.
Bake for 50 minutes.
When you are ready to celebrate warm peanut butter and drizzle over top of cake.
Hope you and your dog love it !
