Running into Fall! Race List

As the temperatures cool my love of running is back in full force.

After completing the Ottawa marathon in May, I’ve taken some time off my long runs and focused more on building strength plus HITT training. It’s been great, but with this perfect weather rolling in I can’t help but count down the days till my next race !

I decided this season a full marathon wouldn’t be in the plan. I wanted to back off the 42.2 training and just remember why I love running. Run for fun, no plan, no stress. Just pure enjoyment. And it’s been great.

Disclaimer: when I say run for fun, that still includes waking up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning and crushing a 10 or 20k. I’m still getting in enough distance without the pressure of a full marathon looming.

This season I’m happy to say I’ll be back for my fourth time at the Oakville Half Marathon. They have slightly adjusted the route this year. You can check it out below:

I love this race becasue it’s well organized, perfect time of year, high energy and always tons of fun. Over the Sept 23-24 weekend you can run a half marathon, 10 k, 5 k or a 2k (there’s even a mutt strut, yay for dogs) check em out here : oakvillehalfmarathon.com

Two of my friends have been getting really fit, looking great and running! So a 10k is in the cards. I’m so happy to join them at the Niagara Falls Marathon. This race looks unbelievable – finishing a run at the brink of the falls -WOW!

I can not wait to run this route on October 15th. One year I’ll have to do the marathon here. But right now it’s the 10k and supporting friends who are wanting to run. Can’t wait to see them cross the finish line. If you want to register for this race use code: WHATSUPWITHTHEWEATHER to save 8% off entry.

Next up I have the Hamilton Marathon ! This year I will be running the half marathon route.

In 2016 I ran the full marathon. As I crossed that finish line I officially became a marathoner and honestly, I was on a runners high for a month ! The feeling is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend this race for the full distance.

The weekend also offers various distances Sat. Nov. 4 1K, 5K, 10K – Sun. Nov. 5 half and full , check em out here : http://hamiltonmarathon.ca/

These half marathons will be my 10th & 11th. I’m super pumped and can’t wait for that finish line banana ! Arn’t they the best bananas ?!

Running still brings so much joy into my life. Really happy to say goodbye to stifling summer humidity and hello to perfect running weather.

What races are you running this season ? Would love to know !

  1. I’m running in the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Marathon October 15, 2017. Its my first race and I’m doing the 10 KM portion, which I am pretty certain will kill me!
